"Things are definitely changing in our business and it becomes more and more obvious that you have to be able to work on all media platforms if you want to make it in the future. More and more clients are calling up asking for stills AND video AND audio for their websites ... and if you're not able to produce these things they will simply stop calling.
A lot of photographers are not too keen about this development - which is understandable to some degree - but for those of us who really enjoy working with a variety of different medias it's a great, great thing.
Photojournalism is changing right now and for most of us there's just no way back to the golden days of Capa or Cartier-Bresson. Papers and magazines are cutting budgets, recession is upon all of us and even established names in the business seem to be struggling. If you want to be a succesfull international photographer right now you have to work very, very hard and you need to find you're own way. You have to come to terms with the fact that you need to be able to do more than just shooting stills. That's for sure.
2009 will be an exciting year for multimedia-photographers - no doubt about that. Everybody's experimenting with cameras like the 5D Mark II and lot of creative stuff is going on..."
